Sebastian Inlet fishing report - September 29

Inshore red fish caught at Sebastian inlet

The bite at the Sebastian Inlet has been very hit or miss for the month of September. Very few snook limits have been caught and a few days where they just won't bite at all. On the brightside, the redfish bite has been better than normal and an above average number of Cubera snapper are being caught. The bait of choice has been mullet, croakers and pinfish. While the inlet bite has been spotty the bite on the lagoon has been on fire! Snook, redfish and trout have all been chewing. If your goal is to get a slam this is the time of the year to do it! Get some mullet or pilchards, find a school of bait along a shoreline and freeline your bait on the edge of the school and its game on.

Offshore the water remains very dirty after the hurricane. The amberjack bite has been good on the 180 and 240 reefs. A few mangroves and muttons are being caught on the 90 foot bar but the dirty water has definitely slowed the bottom bite. and completely shut off the topwater bite. A few mahi mahi catches were reported in the 300-400 foot range before the storm. Remember to be courteous to other fisherman, there is no reason to pull up on someone while they are fishing an area. Don't forget to book a fielt show fishing charter next time you are coming to the Sebastian inlet area!
