Sebastian Inlet fishing report Jan. 15

Sheepshead bite is red hot!

Well, the sheepshead bite started off a little slow for us this year but it has taken off like wildfire the past 2 weeks! These tasty critters seem to be everywhere we look now whether it be the river, the inlet or the ocean. The choice baits have been fiddler and mangrove crabs if you can find them but shrimp will work in a pinch as well.

The Sebastian inlet is in its full winter swing with the exception of flounder. While the snook bite has been slow the best bite has been on croakers and pigfish. The incoming tide redfish bite has picked up with a frisky pinfish being the perfect bait for these bruisers. The black drum bite has also been on fire with most of them caught on crabs and live shrimp, and don't be surprised if you catch a bonus pompano while targeting them.

The offshore bottom fishing out of Sebastian has been good as long as you can find clean water. Good reports of snapper, cobia and grouper have been reported on the 90 foot bar. Please remember that grouper are out of season and cobia are now 36" to harvest. The mahi bite remains slow to nonexistent but a few sailfish are being caught as bycatch. We look forward to having you book your next charter with Filet Show Sebastian fishing charters!
